The Maths Leaders (or Mathletes as they are more commonly known) are a team of 20 – 30 young leaders from Years 10 - 12 who lead younger students in using the Active Playground Equipment. This includes a large Soma cube, the towers of Hanoi puzzle and large dominoes, as well as a coordinate board and a tangram challenge. They are a fun and hands-on way to get involved in Maths outside of the classroom. The Mathletes (most of whom are Sports Leaders too) undergo a day’s intensive training, learning about leading groups and discussing ideas and ways to develop maths activities for the younger students. They can be found on the playground on Wednesday lunchtime running activities, and are currently helping out with the Active Learning Time sessions.
